Em consonância com as decisões do Conselho Executivo do Meretz, o Núcleo Meretz Brasil esclarece que:
1 – Acreditamos que somente a negociação trará a paz entre israelenses e palestinos. A guerra e os atos de violência só terão como desdobramento a transformação das populações civis em reféns e a ampliação do ódio. Por isso, consideramos urgente um armistício imediato, seguido de um processo de negociação que possa atender, ao máximo, os interesses dos dois lados.
2 – Reivindicamos a soltura de Gilad Shalit, soldado israelense em poder das forças do Hamas, bem como a abertura das entradas e saídas da faixa de Gaza, para que seus habitantes possam receber a ajuda humanitária que necessitam.
3 – Condenamos as agressões aos cidadãos israelenses por parte do Hamas e de outras organizações cuja plataforma envolva o uso da violência, bem como a invasão terrestre da faixa de Gaza pelas Forças de Defesa de Israel. Tais atitudes só contribuem para aprofundar o sofrimento e as perdas dos dois lados.
4 – Reiteramos a necessidade de retomar as negociações, com vistas a um acordo entre israelenses e palestinos, garantindo a existência de dois Estados soberanos e autônomos na região.
5 – Reafirmamos nossa solidariedade com as populações atingidas pelo conflito, tanto os israelenses que vivem ao sul de Israel e tem sido alvo constante de ataques dos foguetes lançados pelo Hamas, quanto os palestinos residentes na faixa de Gaza, que têm sido utilizados como escudo pelos ativistas do Hamas e, ao mesmo tempo, vítimas das ações perpetradas pelas Forças de Defesa de Israel.
6 – Consideramos que a participação política da população árabe de Israel é seu direito inalienável e constitui parte integrante de sua cidadania. A restrição às suas prerrogativas de expressão e de representação partidária contraria os princípios democráticos que caracterizam as relações entre o Estado e a sociedade israelenses.
7 – Condenamos, também, aqueles que, por ignorância ou preconceito, usam o conflito entre israelenses e palestinos para expressar velhos ódios irracionais, propondo a eliminação dos judeus como forma de solução para os problemas do Oriente Médio. Recusamos qualquer incitação à intolerância e reafirmamos que a solução para as desavenças entre estes dois povos não passa pela erradicação de nenhum deles, mas pelo reconhecimento mútuo do direito de existir.

In accordance with the decisions of the Executive Board of Meretz the Brazilian Core clarifies that
1 – We believe that only the negotiation will bring peace between Israelis and Palestinians. The war and the acts of violence will only result in the transformation of civilian populations in hostages and in the expansion of hatred. For that very reason, we consider urgent an armistice, immediately followed by a negotiation process that can serve the interests of both sides.
2– We demand the release of Gilad Shalit, Israeli soldier in power of forces of Hamas, as well as the opening of entrances and exits of Gaza Strip, so that its inhabitants can receive the humanitarian aid they need.
3 – We condemn the attacks on Israeli citizens by Hamas and other organizations whose platform involves the use of violence, as well as the invasion ground Gaza Strip by the Israel Defense Forces. Such attitudes only contribute to deepen the suffering and losses on both sides.
4– We reiterate the need to resume negotiations, to an agreement between Israelis and Palestinians, ensuring the existence of two sovereign and autonomous states in the region.
5 – We affirm our solidarity with the populations affected by the conflict, both the israeli along south under constant attacks of rockets launched by Hamas, as the Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip, which has been used as shields by Hamas activists and, at the same time, victims of actions perpetrated by Israel Defense Forces.
6 - We believe that political participation of the arab population of Israel is their inalienable right and is an integral part of their citizenship. The restriction to their prerogatives of expression and partisan representation is contrary to democratic principles that leads the relations between the israeli state and the israeli society.
7– We condemn also those who, through ignorance or prejudice, use the conflict between israelis and palestinians to express old irrational hatred, proposing the elimination of jews as solution to the problems of the Middle East. We reject any incitement to intolerance and reaffirm that the solution to the quarrel between the two peoples is for the eradication of none of them, but by mutual recognition of the right to exist.
